A multidisciplinary artist, Perng Fey explores the gestural quality of art, layering colours and textures to capture the emotion and tension between abstraction and figuration. A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art in Kuala Lumpur, his work explores the psychology and cultural dimension of memory, place, and identity – often drawing on personal transitions and the subtle traces of lived environments.
At the same time, working and living in Beijing for a decade deeply influenced his visual language, embedding a sense of existential urgency and diasporic complexity into his practice.
