SC Shekar began his career as a photojournalist at The Star newspaper in the early 1980s, his work earned numerous photography awards and appeared in many solo exhibitions including the National Art Gallery. He has produced more than 27 books covering themes as diverse as architecture, food culture and portraiture and a notable publication supported by Khazanah in 2018 entitled Grit & Grace: The Grandeur of Monochrome Malaysia – a stunning photo collection capturing our country’s landscapes and indigenous communities.

Shekar’s photography goes beyond capturing images – it’s about understanding people, connecting deeply with communities, and telling stories that give a voice to those often unheard.
