Kow Leong Kiang is one of Malaysia’s recognised figurative artists who is known for his skilful renditions of young Malaysian girls in the bucolic setting of the East Coast. His recent paintings have evolved into depicting young women in urban setting or in a contemplative moment rendered in vibrant colour palette. Among his achievements include the Asian Artist Fellowships for the 11th Annual Freeman Foundation, Vermont Studio Centre Award in 2004 where he was awarded a residency at the Vermont Studio in the U.S. He has held 13 solo exhibitions since 2003 and has participated in numerous international art fairs in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and United Kingdom.
