Fuad Pathil

b. Ipoh, Perak, 1962

Fuad Pathil, born Madzi Fuad bin Pathil in 1962 in Ipoh, Perak, began his professional life as a firefighter in 1994, dedicating 29 years to public service. A former state sepak takraw athlete, his athletic discipline and resilience deeply informed his later turn towards the visual arts.

In 2006, his passion for learning led him to Studio Terusi at Rumah PENA, Kuala Lumpur, where he studied sculpture and printmaking under the guidance of Mad Anuar Ismail and Abdul Mansoor Ibrahim. Eager to further his craft, Fuad travelled to France in 2014 to study at the esteemed Atelier Contrepoint Paris—formerly Atelier 17—under master printmaker Hector Saunier.

Upon returning, he actively exhibited both locally and abroad, with exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, and Chamalières. He earned third place in the first edition of the ASEAN Graphic Arts Competition and Exhibition in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2012. His prints reflect a journey shaped by service, discipline, and an enduring pursuit of artistic excellence.
