Munif Muhammad Nor began to dabble seriously in the field of fine art in early 1986. He received informal art education from senior artist-friends as well as books either bought or borrowed from the library. For more than 30 years in the Malaysian visual arts scene, he has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions in Malaysian art galleries.
He is very interested in the impressionist and realist style of painting. Among the figures of the world of painting that fascinates him are are Van Gogh, Monet, Velazquez and Michelangelo; and considers national artists such as Datuk Ibrahim Hussein, Dato’ Syed Ahmad Jamal, Redza Piyadasa and Amron Omar as mentors.
