Abdullah Jones is an artist, writer, poet, and photographer who has been active in the Malaysian art scene since the 1980s. He has established an artist-run space Rajawali Art Studio in Kuantan, Pahang. He is a columnist for Malaysiakini, an online news portal and regularly writes about the Malaysian art affairs. As a poet, he has published a collection of poems in a book titled Sajak-Sajak Suci in 2007.
His colourful and whimsical artworks have been exhibited in numerous art exhibitions locally and abroad namely Synonym at Galeri Prima, Kuala Lumpur (2022); Lim Kit Siang’s 80th birthday exhibition at Theatre Impian, Kuala Lumpur (2021); a solo exhibition Blues Malaya (2017) at Art Cube Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Love Me and My Batik (2016) at Ilham Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Batik: Expression of Identities at the Chinese Cultural Centre Museum in Vancouver, Canada (2016); and more.
For the batik artwork Batin Lunchang, Abdullah Jones has collaborated with fellow artist Munif Muhamad Nor.
