Latiff Mohidin attended Hochschule für Bildende Künste in West Berlin from 1960 until 1964 where he received his formal training in fine arts. He held his first solo exhibition aged ten at the Malay School Kota Raja, Singapore in 1951. At the time, he was known as “boy wonder” and “the magical boy with the gift in his hands” for his remarkable talent in painting. An award-winning writer, Latiff Mohidin is the recipient of several literary awards such as the Malaysian Literary Awards (1972-1976); The Southeast Asian Writers Award, Bangkok (1984); and the National Literary Award (1984, 1986).
