Helmi Azam bin Tajol Aris, also known as Azam Aris is a recipient of the first Khazanah Art Residency Programme in 2017 where he spent three months at Acme Studios in London to develop his practice as an artist. Azam Aris is a multi-disciplinary artist who works with various media and techniques such as painting, embroidery, photography, sculpture, installation, performance, and sound to express his ideas that are drawn from his personal existentialist thoughts. His seminal solo exhibition titled Hidden Beyond Yesterday: Azam Aris 10 Years and Now was held at HOM Art Trans, Kuala Lumpur in 2018. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions such as Silence Imagination at G13 Gallery, Selangor (2019); Di antara ITU & INI organised by Fergana Art and was held at National Gallery Malaysia (2018); Mutual Unknown, Curators Lab at National Gallery Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia (2017); and Asia Art Studio Residency Showcase at Gwangju Fine Art Gallery, South Korea (2013), to name but a few.
