Ahmad Khalid Yusof was a practising artist and an academician at MARA Institute of Technology. He served as director of the Shah Alam Art Gallery between 1991 and 1997 and was founder-president of the Malaysian Artists Association (1979), where he organised painting trips locally and abroad such as Chini Lake in Pahang and Vietnam. He attended the Malayan Teacher Training College in Kirkby, Liverpool from 1956 to 1958 and continued at the Specialist Teachers Training Institute in 1963. He then pursued art training at the Winchester Art School from 1965 to 1969 before obtaining a Master of Fine Art from the Ohio University in the U.S in 1976. He was awarded the first prize for the Great Britain Reeves and Sons art contest in 1967. In 1994, he became the guest-writer of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
